Entry 2: 8-23-77

8-23-77 - As i was sitting at breakfast with Grandma Sparkle, this kid came running up to me all paniced about some "big things" that destroyed everything. His name was Bryan Wilks. I couldn't turn him down. Dad would look down on me. The town is Grayditch. Sounde dreary to me at the time. I had no idea just how down it was. Ants were everywhere. At every corner, behind every nook and crany, just everywhere. THEY ALSO SHOT FIRE!! Which I thought was awesome, untill they did it at me. I ran out of ammo and grenades. so i ha to rely on my combat knife... that was not fun at all. When i went into the Wilk's home I foun Bryan's dad... but he had died at the pincers of the Fire Ants. I searched around the home and found a Chinese Assault Rifle, .32 pistol and some clips of ammo. I quickly found out I'm no good with such a powerful gun and should stick to pistols. So I used that .32 I found. I had to break the news to Bryan about his dad's passing. It broke my heart but he took it well. His only request was to avenge his father by taking out whatever caused this mess in the first place. I figured the Marigold Metro was a good place to start. Knowing what i know about Ants, they start families underground then come up to get food and stuff like that. In the Tunnel Silver and I took out a few ants and again I ran out of ammo for the .32 pistol, it was so weak i could barely get the bullet threw the soft spots in the ant's armor plating. I looked threw the pack i have on Silver and found a good ol' American Assault Rifle, ive heard from dad and some of the caravan gaurds that they are less powerful but more acurate then the Chinese Assault Rifles, hope thats true. The rifle was more reliable... untill I also ran out of ammo for that. luckily I had found a few clips for my trusty 10mm, And two frags. I eventually bumped into Dr. Lesko, a craxy doctor who thought he had everything with the ants under control. the idiot was trying to play God and change the ants dna to make them small again. Good idea. Horible delivery. Lesko had some guns and 10mm ammo sitting around, I asked if i could have it to help me fix his problem and take out the nest gaurds. He was ok with it. I left Silver behind. I was afraid for him to be that close to such powerful ants. As I went threw the tunnels I encountered five gaurdians. Their amor was thicker and their fire hotter. My bullets were ineffective. I had to use the land mines that I had found and taken from courpses. I learned that i an explosion happens close to their antene they go into a frenzy an attack eachother rather them myself. I used this trick to take care of the other four. After I was done, I care bak and reported to the doctor. He offered me a mutegin to give me ant sight or ant might. I was aprehensive at first. But I gave in to get the preception of an ant. He gave me the shot. My head is still spinning and man do I have a headache, but i am seeing clearer and more focused then ever. I think I'm starting to like this crazy doctor. I'm gonna pull an all nighter to get back to megaton. After todays adventure in pooped. And a little crispy. Doc Church will fix me up. I can tell Moira that she was right about food still being in stores. and I'm sure Dad will want to hear about how I saved a town... man am I tired. Better start out. Its a long walk.
